If you’ve had to cancel a birthday party, here’s a fabulous way to make sure the day is still special. Have a group of friends gather in a nearby parking lot (staying in their cars, of course) with their cars decked out with ballons and signs , then make their way to the house of the person of honor. Tell person of honor to look outside and sing "Happy Birthday" when they come to the door. Create "Birthday" Video Montage Improve on a traditional birthday card by making it interactive. Use a service like Tribute to create a personalized video montage. Ask friends and family to record their birthday wishes and Tribute will put them together and mail the guest of honor a video card. The gift is sure to be a keepsake for years to come. Ring for Champagne Know a special couple celebrating a milestone anniversary ? Deliver a bottle of bubbly to their doorstep. While you may not be able to raise a glass together that doesn't mean you can't say "cheers." There are so many ways to deliver champagne, wine, and liquor straight to someone's door. Going Viral Have a virtual birthday party with the help Zoom. Sure, you could just text all your friends a Zoom link, but it's way more fun to send a customized digital party invitation. Etsy has plenty of digital birthday party invitations for teens and adults alike, or you can kick it old school and send a paper invitation while supporting the U.S. Postal Service. Either way, an invitation will serve as a reminder of what's sure to be a one-of-a-kind birthday during an unparalleled moment in history. Milestone Parties Bat or Bar Mitzvah  Kids and families have been planning their bat or bar mitzvahs for years. A rite of passage for a Jewish 13-year-old. Instead of canceling, families can send virtual evites to their friends and family to get dressed up and join them on Zoom. They can set up a mini chapel in their house, with a table and decorate a backdrop. The "girl" or "guy" of the moment can read from the Torah, the guests can create special signs, and offer their blessings. Post ceremony the family can also celebrate with a traditional bat mitzvah brunch at home. By setting up a reception area with flowers and balloons that read "Mazel Tov." Quinceañera  Turning 15 is an important day in a Latina’s life. To celebrate, families throw big parties and the birthday girl wears a beautiful ball gown. Have the birthday girl get glammed up, decorate the front of your home. Hire a photographer to capture all the details and hold a drive by quince. Sweet 16  No need to miss this milestone birthday by celebrating alone. Make their 16th birthday special by inviting friends to make different sweets and then joining in on Zoom. The coronavirus pandemic has altered every day life, for sure, but it has also changed how people celebrate big life events. While we may see some loosened restrictions on social distancing guidelines. We are still held to strict guidelines about congregating and gathering in groups. Don’t give up on celebrating life’s big moments; instead, consider postponing. We will all need happy reasons to gather together after the threat of this pandemic has faded. Keep hope and love alive and plan for a larger get together when the world is a safer place. For now we just have to focus on the good and get creative with the options available to us.
