Over the ground lies a mantle of white. A heaven of diamonds shine down through the night. Two hearts are thrillin’ in spite of the chill in—the weather. Love knows no seasons; love knows no climb. Romance can blossom at any old time.
There is something so calming and magical about that first snow day, especially when it’s that overnight snow, and you wake up to a world covered in light, powdery snowflakes…..AHHHHHHmazing yay for snow days! If you’re like me, I spent most of my time in the house today… Little R&R is trying to get back to one. Winter weather can certainly be a wildcard, and from a planning and logistics perspective, it can add several layers to the timeline for the day and being prepared for what the weather throws at you. I used to think of snow and all things winter as inconvenient, at best. But as the years wore on, I found that I liked winter more and more. Wedding planning only gives me more reason to continue this new-found romance with this season. Here are a few of my favorite elements that you can infuse into your winter wedding or if you are celebrating a milestone event
The Color scheme: Monochrome Anyone?
Most people think of winter weddings or events and go into autopilot mode, leaning toward traditional winter colors or having a holiday-related focus. I like to flip tradition and blend old and new into something crisp and modern that exudes a sense of timelessness. So, while I love my colors, I love a white-on-white color scheme so clean and crisp in an elevated way. How gorgeous would this be in a venue with floor-to-ceiling windows full 180 views of the outdoors covered in snow while on the inside, warm candle glow, white roses, and delicate greener intermingle to create the start of a design look that is so perfect? I love design elements that take on a feel of timeless elegance. In this design process, the florals are the showstopper.
The Opportunity to Have a Mulled Wine Signature Cocktail
Yes, please! Seasonal cocktails and treats are half why I look forward to the holidays… Just kidding! In all seriousness, including a mulled wine as a signature cocktails give you an edge when treating your guests to a little something special and unexpected. In addition, if this is traditional in the region you come from, I know mulled wine is customary in some European countries around the holiday season, so how cool would it be to integrate your family’s mulling recipe for your signature? We can even get interactive with a spiked coffee station again, infusing some culture, maybe utilizing coffee if it is grown in a country that you or your soon-to-be is from, such as Jamaica, Colombia, Brazil, or India as the base, and adding various liquors that can add that extra dash to everyone’s java as they dance the night away.
Two Words as They Say in France: Chocolat Chaud
For those of you that are out of practice with your French "choclat chaud= HOT CHOCOLATE.I love everything about this as station especially as one that can be enjoyed by guests of all ages. As a Planner, I crave things that allow me to create something unique and personalized, and specialty stations will enable me to do just that! This seasonal and tasty station can be enhanced with as many goodies as your heart desires. Peppermint flavored stirrers? Yup! Butterscotch morsels? Check! Marshmallows? YAAAAS.
Until next time! I hope everyone uses this snowy, cold weather to snuggle with someone you love. If it’s warm where you are… Snuggle anyway!
